Quentin Johnston is trending towards not being a starter for the Los Angeles Chargers. (Source: Daniel Popper on Twitter)
Fantasy Impact: HC Jim Harbaugh has praised Johnston at various points this offseason, but it doesn't look like he is going to win a starting spot on the team this year. It's possible that he will be part of a rotation, but it's being reported that he is not part of the primary wide receiver trio for the first-team offense at camp. He's coming off of a disappointing rookie campaign in 2023, and if he doesn't impress over the rest of camp or in the preseason, we could see him end up being a non-factor for the Chargers this season.
Ladd McConkey is emerging as a starter for the Chargers. (Source: Daniel Popper)
Fantasy Impact: McConkey, a second-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, has been doing well at camp over the past week. He has been consistently running with the first-team offense, and it appears that he has a pretty strong grasp on the starting slot receiver role for this offense. He could end up leading this team in receptions, which would lead to a lot of fantasy value on an offense led by Justin Herbert.
DJ Chark Jr. is trending towards starting for the Los Angeles Chargers. (Source: Daniel Popper on Twitter)
Fantasy Impact: The Chargers signed Chark to a small deal earlier this offseason, but he seems to be off to a good start with his new team. He has emerged as one of the primary targets with the first team at camp, and it looks like he's trending towards being a starting WR for the team. If that's the case, we could see him find some solid streaming value on a week-to-week basis.
Matt LaFleur noted that Devonte Wyatt is in the best shape of his life and that he expects him to take a leap this season. (Source: Ryan Wood)
Fantasy Impact: A step forward would be a great sign for Wyatt, who had 5.5 sacks last season and was an important part of Green Bay's defense.
Kevin Harris is looking like New England's 'clear RB3' ahead of the season. (Source: Taylor Kyles on Twitter)
Fantasy Impact: Harris' career has gotten off to a slow start so far, and it doesn't look like he's going to have a big role in 2024. He is reportedly the 'clear RB3' on the roster right now, and it's unlikely that he leapfrogs either Antonio Gibson or Rhamondre Stevenson before Week 1. Fantasy managers have no strong reason to be optimistic about his outlook this season.
Adonai Mitchell has been splitting reps at the WR3 spot at practice. (Source: Kevin Bowen)
Fantasy Impact: The rookie is fighting to earn a starting role for himself, but he isn't quite there yet. He has been splitting reps at the WR3 spot with Alec Pierce, and it's unclear if he will be able to pull ahead of him before the start of the season. Mitchell is likely to have a slower start to the season, and if he's going to break out, it's not likely to happen until the back half of the regular season.
A.T. Perry hasn't been particularly impressive throughout camp so far, according to head coach Dennis Allen. (Source: Nick Underhill on Twitter)
Fantasy Impact: Allen noted that Perry has been 'fine' so far, but hasn't done anything to win a role for himself yet. The second-year WR has yet to prove his talent at the NFL level, so if he isn't able to have a strong performance in the preseason this year, we could see him lose the WR3 spot on this offense to someone like Cedrick Wilson Jr.
Zamir White is reportedly 'entrenched' as the RB1 for the Raiders. (Source: Vincent Bonsignore on Twitter)
Fantasy Impact: It has been the presumed all offseason that White would win the starting job for the Raiders, and it looks like that it coming to fruition. He is reportedly 'entrenched' as the team's RB1, which is obviously great news for his fantasy value. Him and Dylan Laube seem to be the most interesting fantasy options in this backfield at the current moment.
Tyler Allgeier will have “a big role” in 2024 for the Falcons, says Atlanta OC Zac Robinson. (Source: Josh Kendall on X)
Fantasy Impact: After a promising rookie season in 2022, Allgeier was a thorn in the side of all Bijan Robinson managers last year. That’s not to take away from him, as he is a capable backup behind Bijan. While it’s expected that Robinson will get the majority of the running back workload in Atlanta, Allgeier is the clear favorite to spell him and could get enough of a workload to make him flex-worthy in some weeks.
Chicago Bears head coach Matt Eberflus announced that the team will not be playing its starters in the Hall of Fame Game on Thursday. (Source: Chicago Bears on Twitter)
Fantasy Impact: The Bears face off against the Houston Texans in the Hall of Fame Game, but the team's starters, including most key offseason acquisitions, will not play. This is standard, and they may get a few drives in the following weeks, but Bears fans will have to wait to see their first snaps with QB Caleb Williams, WRs Rome Odunze and Keenan Allen and RB D'Andre Swift.
New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers is not expected to play in the team's preseason matches. (Source: Adam Schefter on Twitter)
Fantasy Impact: The Jets' first preseason game is on Aug. 10, and Rodgers, who is recovering from his Achilles tear, will likely not compete. This is not unexpected as the 40-year-old is preserving his body for the regular season. His ADP is QB20, according to FantasyPros' data.
Theo Johnson took the majority of the first-team reps at New York's practice on Monday. (Source: Gabriel Trevino)
Fantasy Impact: Johnson, a fourth-round pick in the 2024 draft, has a chance to earn the starting TE job in New York prior to the start of the season. He took a majority of the first-team snaps at Monday's practice, which is a good sign that he's trending the right way. His only real competition for the job is Daniel Bellinger, but if the rookie can beat him out, he could find himself with sneaky good streaming value on a Giants' offense that desperately needs playmakers.
Tutu Atwell is battling for the WR3 spot in Los Angeles but will likely end up being the WR4 on the depth chart. (Source: Cameron DaSilva)
Fantasy Impact: The Rams were impressed with the performance that Demarcus Robinson put up last year as the team's WR3 over the back half of the season, and Atwell will need to have an impressive camp if he wants to reclaim that job. It's reportedly more likely that he ends up being the team's WR4, which would lead to him being irrelevant for fantasy purposes.
Buffalo Bills WR Tyrell Shavers has reportedly popped during training camp and has seen an increased look with the starters, earning praise from head coach Sean McDermott who said he was "very impressed" by the wideout. (Source: Sal Capaccio on Twitter)
Fantasy Impact: Shavers, 24, is a second-year wide receiver who spent 2023 on the Bills' practice squad. He signed a reserve/future contract with the team on Jan. 22 and has had standout moments in practice since then. McDermott commented on the former Alabama, Mississippi State and San Diego State pass catcher, praising his consistency, work ethic and knowledge of the offense, according to Joe Marino of Locked On Bills. He could have a chance to sneak onto the team's 53-man roster in 2024, but there is no shortage of competition for the job in Buffalo.
Tyquan Thornton reportedly bulked up seven pounds over the course of the offseason. (Source: Evan Lazar)
Fantasy Impact: Thornton was previously listed at 185 pounds, but now it's being reported that his new playing weight is 192 pounds. That's a positive development, as he has been one of the thinnest wide receivers in the league since being drafted. It's unlikely this will make much of a change in his role for the 2024 season, but it's worth keeping an eye on any improvements in his game in this wide-open Patriots' depth chart.
James Cook (personal) didn't take part in Buffalo's practice on Sunday. (Source: Joe Buscaglia on Twitter)
Fantasy Impact: Cook was excused from Sunday's practice because of a personal reason of some kind. It's unclear when he will return to practice, but he presumably has a chance to suit up on Monday. This situation is only notable for fantasy purposes if the young RB misses significant time prior to the team's preseason opener on August 10th.
