The Chicago Bears are finalizing a deal to land one of the biggest names in the 2025 offseason coaching cycle, Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson.
Fantasy Impact
Johnson has developed a reputation around the NFL as a top-tier play-caller, play-designer, and talent developer, operating a Lions offense that has run through the NFL over the last two regular seasons, reaching at least the Divisional Round in both 2023 and 2024. Now Johnson will pair with young QB Caleb Williams, the No. 1 pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, as well as other young offensive pieces like D'Andre Swift, Rome Odunze, and DJ Moore, bringing further promise to a Chicago offense that disappointed relative to its high expectations heading into the 2024 season.
The Bears' D/ST logged three sacks and two fumble recoveries while allowing 22 points in Sunday's win over the Green Bay Packers.
Fantasy Impact
Chicago's defense was able to step up and play a solid game on Sunday. They forced two turnovers and got to the quarterback on three separate occasions, which helped them to pick up a nice win over Green Bay. This unit's strength in 2025 will depend on a number of factors, including who they acquire in free agency and in the NFL Draft.
The Bears D/ST forced one turnover (one fumble recovery) while also recording three sacks in a 6-3 loss to the Seahawks in Week 17.
Fantasy Impact
The unit turned in a solid performance Thursday night, allowing less than 30 points for the first time in four games. The defense will be difficult for fantasy managers to trust ahead of a tough Week 18 divisional contest against a Green Bay Packers offense potentially playing for playoff seeding.
The Bears D/ST failed to force a turnover while recording just one sack in a 34-17 loss to the Lions in Week 16.
Fantasy Impact
The unit had no answer for a high-powered Detroit offense, allowing 475 offensive yards and four touchdowns in the loss. The defense will look to get back on track against an inconsistent Seattle Seahawks offense in Week 17 next Thursday night.
The Bears D/ST allowed 30 points while notching two sacks and forcing one turnover in a 30-12 loss to the Vikings in Week 15.
Fantasy Impact
Chicago's defense struggled against Minnesota while allowing their opponent to score at least 30 points for the second straight game. The Bears got sacks from T.J. Edwards and Chris Williams while Tyrique Stevenson added an interception. Things won't get much easier for Chicago's D/ST as they take on an explosive Detroit offense in Week 16.
