The potential deal between the Nationals and Bud Norris fell through, according to Jon Heyman.
Fantasy Impact
According to Heyman, the Nationals felt that Norris was still at least four weeks away and are in need of more immediate help. Norris wasn't relevant in almost any fantasy league, so this development doesn't move the needle much anywhere.
Bud Norris has an agreement in place with the Washington Nationals. A physical is expected to take place in the team's spring facility in Florida.
Fantasy Impact
Norris would be an obvious lock for relief help in the Nationals bullpen. There isn't anything finalized yet but Norris may return a bit of fantasy value if this deal does go through.
The Blue Jays released Bud Norris on Tuesday. Norris feels he is healthy and ready to go, but Toronto no longer has a free roster spot available for him, so they wanted to give him a chance to catch on elsewhere.
Fantasy Impact
The Jays' decision to part ways with Norris was probably made easier by the strong early form shown by closer Ken Giles. With Norris out of the picture, Giles would appear to have significantly more job security today than he did at this time last week.
Bud Norris (forearm) isn't included on the Blue Jays' roster ahead of their season opener Thursday against the Tigers, Hazel Mae of Sportsnet reports.
Fantasy Impact
Norris will remain with the Blue Jays as a non-roster player and should get his contract picked up once he gets over his current bout of forearm fatigue. Norris will be in a set-up role behind closer Ken Giles. If Giles falters then Norris could see some save opportunities.
Bud Norris (undisclosed) was scratched from Thursday's game against the Phillies, Gregor Chisholm of MLB.com reports. Norris didn't feel right while throwing earlier, prompting the Blue Jays to scrap his scheduled outing Thursday.
Fantasy Impact
Norris is going to be in a setup role in the bullpen this season. But the veteran reliever closed for the Cardinals last year before getting hurt and could find his way into the job if current closer Ken Giles falters or gets hurt. Norris also has value in leagues that count holds as well as saves.
