Week 12 Outlook
Availability
The Panthers are signing former XFL wideout Cam Phillips.
Fantasy Impact
Phillips was one of the best players in the brief XFL season earlier this year. The 24-year-old will compete for a backup role in Carolina.
Cam Phillips caught two of his three targets for 10 yards in the Bills' preseason win over the Vikings.
Fantasy Impact
Phillips is not likely to make the final roster and should not be considered a candidate for fantasy football usage this season. Phillips could catch on somewhere else, but not likely in a meaningful role.
Cam Phillips caught one of his three targets for an 8-yard touchdown in the Bills' preseason opener against the Colts.
Fantasy Impact
Phillips made some noise last year in camp, but is a long-shot to surface in the regular season. No need to have him in your player pool in fantasy drafts.
Jay Skurski of Buffalo News is repoting that rookie UDFA WR Cam Phillips from Virginia Tech is turning heads at training camp. Phillips has reportedly made impressive plays on nearly every day of camp thus far, and continues to look good.
Fantasy Impact
Don't do anything yet, because it still seems that Phillips is on the outside looking in in terms of making the roster. Phillips was a productive player at Virginia Tech, though, accruing 70+ catches and almost 1,000 yards in each of his final two seasons, so it wouldn't be a total surprise if he makes the roster and becomes a contributor. Phillips is bolstered by his ability on special teams. The bad news for Phillips is that he is a bottom-percentile athlete in most metrics (e.g., speed, agility, burst/jump). Phillips might be a taxi squad player in deep dynasty leagues, but it's hard to imagine him becoming more than that.
