Adalberto Mejia was forced to leave Tuesday's start against the Indians with a strained left wrist, Dan Hayes of The Athletic Minnesota reports. Mejia tossed five one-hit innings on only 68 pitches prior to leaving with the injury.
Fantasy Impact
Mejia does not have an MRI planned, Mike Berardino of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports. That is good news and the 25-year-old lefty may avoid a trip to the DL and could make his next start on Sunday. Fantasy owners should keep an eye on updates.
Adalberto Mejia was called on to make a spot start against the Cubs on Saturday, and he did not fare well. He surrendered four runs on six hits and three walks while striking out just one hitter. This game was a seesaw affair, and he did not factor into the decision.
Fantasy Impact
The Twins are playing the waiting game with Ervin Santana, and they will be thankful to get him back as soon as possible. Mejia has had a strong season in the minors, but he is not currently worth looking at for fantasy purposes.
Adalberto Mejia allowed just one-earned run, two total, over seven hits and two walks in Sunday's loss to the Tigers. He managed to fan five, but didn't factor into the decision.
Fantasy Impact
Mejia has been a pleasant surprise for the Twins rotation this year. He isn't sporting All-Star numbers, but he is providing the ball club with a consistent chance to win. Mejia isn't a valuable season-long fantasy chip, and likely wont be in 2017 or 2018. However, if you're a Twins fan, feel free to get behind this youngster because it looks like he locked down a rotation spot for now. DFS players are encouraged to consider him as a low-cost option in good matchups.
Adalberto Mejia spun 5.1 innings, allowing just five hits and zero walks to total one earned run on Monday against New York. He also struck out four batsmen.
Fantasy Impact
Mejia is inconsistent, to say the least. However, inconsistency screams "DFP" and if you can pick your spots correctly he can be quite useful. He's allowed just eight earned runs in his last 30.2 innings of work, and considering the strength of the Twins rotation, the 24-year old will continue to get starts. He shows solid command of his pitches as well, so expect his WHIP to experience some positive regression.
Adalberto Mejia lasted 4.2 innings, allowing five hits and three walks to total two runs allowed against the Indians. He only managed to fan three.
Fantasy Impact
The outing wasn't terrible, but it certainly wasn't serviceable for any fantasy leagues. Mejia, like many Twins pitchers not named Ervin or Jose, is best left on the waivers.
