Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports that the Jaguars have released Tim Tebow.
Fantasy Impact
Urban Meyer experimented with Tebow playing tight end, but it just didn't work out. It's unlikely Tebow gets another shot in the NFL but we will see if another team takes a chance on him.
According to ESPN’s Dianna Russini, Jaguars TE Tim Tebow is more likely to be utilized like Taysom Hill in New Orleans than he is as a prototypical tight end.
Fantasy Impact
“There are people in camp right now who strongly believe the reason why Urban Meyer brought Tim Tebow in is not to play tight end, but actually to use him in that utility role, that Taysom Hill role that we see Sean Payton use in New Orleans," Russini said. If this is truly the case, it’s likely Tebow has a better chance at making the 53-man roster than any of us want to believe. If this happens, it could negatively impact the fantasy value of a few players including Trevor Lawrence and James Robinson, especially if Tebow comes in at the goal-line. Keep an eye on this development throughout training camp heading into the 2021 season.
The Jaguars officially signed former QB Tim Tebow to a one-year contract.
Fantasy Impact
Of course, Tebow will be making the transition to tight end now. The 33-year-old hasn't appeared in a regular season game in nine years, but his connection to new Jaguars coach Urban Meyer paved the way for his latest comeback attempt. It remains to be seen as to whether or not Tebow makes the Week 1 roster.
Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports that Jaguars are planning to sign former QB Tim Tebow to a deal.
Fantasy Impact
Tebow will be converting to TE when the Jaguars officially sign him. Tebow last played in the NFL during the 2012 season. His stint as a QB did not pan out, throwing for 17 touchdowns and nine interceptions while completing 47.9% of his passes in 16 career games as a starter. The Jaguars have one of the worst TE rooms in the NFL and Tebow could easily be atop the depth chart by the time the season rolls around. He gets to reunite with his former college coach, Urban Meyer.
Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports former QB Tim Tebow recently worked out for the Jaguars as a tight end.
Fantasy Impact
Of course, Tebow's former college coach is now in charge of the Jaguars, so there's a connection here. Many within the NFL reportedly believe that Tebow would've extended his football career had he made the switch earlier. Jacksonville has yet to make a decision in regards to whether or not to sign him, but we ultimately don't expect it to happen.
