Kevin Dodd records first career sack

OLB/DE Kevin Dodd recorded his first career NFL sack against the Lions. He also added three tackles as he filled in for the injured Derrick Morgan.

Fantasy Impact

Dodd was selected 33rd overall by the Titans in draft, and had high expectations coming out of Clemson. He was injured for most of the preseason so he didn't get a chance to compete with veteran Derrick Morgan for the starting spot. Dodd's sack came on the last play of the first half as he was able to reach Matthew Stafford in time before he could get rid of the ball. It was also the first sack as team for the Titans this season. Dodd looked good in his first real game action as a Titan. It will be interesting to see how the Titans use him along with Morgan once he returns from injury.

Kevin Dodd taken off PUP

Second-round pick Kevin Dodd has been taken off of the PUP list and will be practicing today.

Fantasy Impact

Dodd is expected to come in and make an immediate impact for the Titans defense that is looking to improve on it's 21st ranked pass rush. Dodd brings his 12.5 sacks and his 26.5 TFL to the Titans defense. Dodd has a chance to be a real difference maker.

With the 33rd overall selection the Tennessee Titans select Kevin Dodd

With the 33rd pick in the 2016 NFL draft, the Tennessee Titans have selected defensive end Kevin Dodd. Originally predicted by many as a first-round talent, he saw a minor draft day slide and will make a solid rookie impact with the Titans.

Fantasy Impact

On a defense that needs an immediate impact player on the edge, Kevin Dodd will bring a consistent pass rusher who can find his way into the opposing backfield. The Titans allowed the 27th most points in 2015 and will look to improve on that this year with a strong rookie class.

Can we trust Kevin Dodd?

Dodd came on strong during 2015, amassing 23.5 tackles for loss on the season after notching only 20 total tackles in his entire career. He made a splash the right time, as he now gains first-round recognition in many media mock drafts. That said, the buzz has calmed as we've moved away from the CFB season, and questions remain as to whether or not Dodd continue producing at a first-round level in the NFL.

Fantasy Impact

Dodd flashes great instincts and quickness on his 2015 tape and has the size - 6'5", 277 lbs. - NFL evaluators at the defensive end position. Oddly enough, it seems that the conversation among both Dodd's supporters and detractors revolves around his potential. We'll see Thursday which side of the fence NFL general managers sit on.

Kevin Dodd gets a chance to work out at Clemson Pro Day

After pulling a hamstring during the 40-yard dash in Indianapolis, Kevin Dodd sat out the rest of the combine's workouts. At his pro day in Clemson, he ran through the gamut of workouts, putting up 22 reps on the bench press, recording a 30.5" vertical jump, a 9'2" broad jump, running the 20-yard shuttle in 4.44 seconds, and the three-cone drill in 7.32 seconds. None of these numbers is "elite," but his 20-yard shuttle and three-cone drill times would've snuck into the top 15 among defensive lineman in Indianapolis.

Fantasy Impact

Dodd has been a steady riser on draft boards since the end of the season and this performance won't hurt his draft stock. His on-field workouts, in particular, drew attention, as Dodd took reps at both outside linebacker and defensive end and looked explosive rushing out of both two- and three-point stances. Dodd's natural position is at DE, but NFL defensive coordinators will value his versatility in zone-blitz schemes, and coaches in general will value his work ethic, praised by both his head coach Dabo Swinney and universally respected defensive coordinator, Brent Venables.
