Hau'oli Kikaha waived by New Orleans

Defensive end Hau'oli Kikaha has been waived by the New Orleans Saints.

Fantasy Impact

The former second-round linebacker converted to defensive end never quite lived up to his billing and endured a series of injuries hampering his situation. With young players like Marcus Davenport and Trey Hendrickson living up to their draft status and Cameron Jordan and Alex Okafor returning to health, there simply wasn't room for Kikaha on the active roster.

Hau'oli Kikaha will be ready for OTAs

DE Hau'oli Kikaha, who was placed on injured reserve with an ankle injury in mid-December, said he will be ready for OTAs.

Fantasy Impact

A linebacker converted to a defensive end for New Orleans when they needed him the most for 2017, Kikaha has had an uninspiring career to date. Entering in his final season of his rookie contract he has been injured often and merely a depth player at this point and time. It is unclear if he'll be in New Orleans for 2018.

Hau'oli Kikaha (ankle) placed on injured reserve, sign Kasim Edebali

The former outside linebacker Hau'oli Kikaha had been assisting New Orleans on the defensive line as a defensive end the last few weeks as injuries have occurred. In response to his placement on injured reserve the New Orleans Saints claimed their former edge rusher Kasim Edebali, off waivers from the Los Angeles Rams. With Trey Hendrickson (ankle) also looking questionable after missing Thursday's practice the team needed to sign a player that they were familiar with for depth. Edebali spent his first three NFL seasons with the Saints as an undrafted free agent.

Fantasy Impact

IDP fantasy owners should probably not depend on Hendrickson or Edebali for this Week 17 contest versus Tampa Bay. Cameron Jordan and possibly Sheldon Rankins should be the only relevant New Orleans defensive lineman that IDP owners should trust in the final week of any fantasy football playoffs.

Hau'oli Kikaha to miss the entire 2016 season

New Orleans Saints DE Hau'oli Kikaha (ACL) will miss the entire 2016 season due to a torn ACL. This most recent injury to his ACL is the third of his career, with the other two occurring during his collegiate days.

Fantasy Impact

Hau'oli Kikaha tore his ACL for the third time in his career and will miss the entire 2016 season. The second-year pass rusher played in 15 games in 2015 and accounted for 52 tackles, four sacks, four forced fumbles, a fumble recovery and two pass deflections. Kikaha's absence will be a great loss to a Saints defense that has struggled mightily for te past few seasons. Avoid New Orlean's D/ST in the upcoming fantasy campaign.
