Fozzy Whittaker placed on I.R. with torn ACL

The Carolina Panthers announced that running back Fozzy Whittaker has been placed on Injured Reserve after tearing his ACL last week in OTA's.

Fantasy Impact

Whittaker's season is officially over. The 29-year-old veteran only played 46 offensive snaps for the Panthers last season and was unlikely to have much of an impact behind C.J. Anderson and Christian McCaffrey. Assuming he makes a full recovery next year, Whittaker will be a free agent, but he holds no fantasy value.

Fozzy Whittaker remains sidelined

Panthers RB Fozzy Whittaker is sidelined with a right ankle injury.

Fantasy Impact

Whittaker was carted to the locker room in the first quarter of Thursday's contest. He's not a viable fantasy option at this point in any format.

Fozzy Whittaker signs two-year deal with Panthers

Fozzy Whittaker has signed a two-year deal to return the Panthers. Whittaker will likely see time behind Jonathan Stewart and Cameron Artis-Payne if the Panthers don't add a back in the draft. His spot isn't safe depending the draft moves.

Fantasy Impact

Whittaker was more of a special teams and third-down back for the Panthers last season and could be pushed further back if they draft or add another back. No long-term fantasy value here.

Fozzy Whittaker takes a back seat to Jonathan Stewart

Fozzy Whittaker netted three yards in Sunday's loss to the Saints. He had one carry for a negative yard, and a reception for four yards.

Fantasy Impact

With Jonathan Stewart back in action, Cameron Artis-Payne was inactive. Fozzy Whittaker resumed his role as a change of pace back, but ceded many snaps to Jonathan Stewart. Whittaker is the handcuff to own in PPR leagues.

Fozzy Whittaker averages a staggering 9.0 yards per carry

Fozzy Whittaker rushed nine times for 45 yards in Monday's loss to the Buccaneers. He also added one catch for nine yards.

Fantasy Impact

Whittaker has been the primary pass-catching back since Jonathan Stewart has been on the mend. With Derek Anderson starting in his place, the Panthers didn't air it out to their backfield very often. Jonathan Stewart may return to the practice field this week, and would limit Whittaker's fantasy impact for Week 6.
