There are reports that the 49ers locker room believes that Christian Ponder is the best QB on the team, and should be making starts.

The guy who was not on a NFL team just a few months ago is now suddenly the best QB on the 49ers. That's how bad it is in the bay. If Ponder does start, hopefully it will salvage Torrey Smith's awful season.
Christian Ponder went 7/8 for 86 yards and a touchdown in the pre-season win over the Denver Broncos. He also added 21 rushing yards and a rushing score.

Who would've thought that the QB that was added this week would play better than the other QBs on the roster? He is not fantasy relevant, just updating.
The 49ers have signed Christian Ponder to a one-year deal and placed Thad Lewis on injured reserve.

Yikes. Have you seen the 49ers QBs? This is turning in a dumpster fire quickly. It'll be interesting to see how Ponder does, but he's just a recognizable name that won't get any playing time.
When rosters are trimmed to 53 this afternoon at 4pm, the Raiders are expected to release backup QB Christian Ponder. Ponder was signed as a free agent and was given a $1.5 million signing bonus to back up David Carr. He was outplayed by Matt McGloin in pre-season games, opening the door for the Raiders to use his roster spot for a more stacked position. They will carry only two QB's into the season.

If you choose to handcuff David Carr, the guy to roster is Matt McGloin.
Christian Ponder will get the start at quarterback for the Minnesota Vikings on Thursday night after starter Teddy Bridgewater was ruled out with an ankle injury. The former first-round pick started nine games for the Vikings last season, but Ponder's ineffective play resulted in him beginning this year as No. 3 on the depth chart. Ponder is the third starting quarterback in three weeks for the Vikings.

While Ponder has had success in the past against the Packers don't expect for it to continue tonight at Lambeau Field. Ponder should only be considered as a desperation play in leagues that start 2 QBs and he also depresses the value of the rest of the Vikings skill players so temper your expectations accordingly.
