Week 12 Outlook
Availability
New signed Safety Calvin Pryor is out in Week 2 against the Tennessee Titans.
Fantasy Impact
Pryor is new to the team and was not in line to start over Tashaun Gipson. The injury will hurt the depth of the Jaguars secondary that is dealing with injuries.
NFL Network's Mike Garafolo is reporting the New York Jets have traded DB Calvin Pryor to the Cleveland Browns in exchange for linebacker Demario Davis.
Fantasy Impact
Pryor, the former 18th overall pick in the 2014 draft, was dealt to the Browns Thursday. The 24-year-old safety hasn't lived up to expectations in New York and will now have a shot to rejuvenate his stalled career on a Browns defense desperate for a spark. Pryor will have an opportunity in training camp and the preseason to compete for a starting job in Cleveland for the 2017 season.
Calvin Pryor will play at strong safety next season - his natural position. The move will see him play closer to the line of scrimmage, and should allow him to show off more of his trademark hard-hitting.
Fantasy Impact
Calvin Pryor gave up some big plays last year, especially when he was the lone safety. Moving to his more natural strong safety should help Pryor's game out, as well as improve the Jets' passing offense. He could be a player to watch in IDP, and it could have a positive impact on an already impressive Jets secondary.
New York Jets first-round selection will start at the safety position when the New York Jets take on the New York Giants in the MetLife Bowl on Friday evening. ESPN's Rich Cimini described Pryor as: "too talented to sit on the bench."
Fantasy Impact
After missing a couple of weeks with a concussion, Calvin Pryor's return has only seen his stock rise. He made his highly-anticipated debut last weekend against the Bengals and impressed, mainly playing with the backups. However, this week, he'll have a proper chance to show what he can do with the first team. Pryor could be a good pickup in IDP drafts, and is certainly someone who should seriously be considered in dynasty leagues - even if he is a stash in his first year.
Calvin Pryor was impressive in his debut, as the New York Jets defeated the Cincinnati Bengals 25-17. The first-round pick was credited with two pass breakups, one tackle for a loss, and one fumble recovery. But what the stats sheet doesn't show were his hits on wide receiver Cobi Hamilton and running back Rex Burkhead, which knocked both players out of the game.
Fantasy Impact
Calvin Pryor was a presence all night on the Jets defense, and quashed any rumours of him holding back due to the concussion he sustained in training. Pryor's performance on Saturday suggested that he may be worth a gamble in redraft IDP leagues, and should definitely be one of the higher picks in dynasty.
