Byron Marshall leaves with lower leg injury Thursday, MRI comes back clean

Byron Marshall left Thursday's game with a lower leg injury, but an MRI did not reveal a significant injury, according to head coach Jay Gruden.

Fantasy Impact

Marshall is on the roster bubble in Washington and has seen his stock rise in recent weeks due to his performance and injuries to other running backs, but he can not afford to miss any time. Fellow running back Samaje Perine also left the game with a sprained ankle on Thursday, and both backs are considered day-to-day.

Byron Marshall has improved chances of making Redskins roster

The unfortunate season-ending injury to rookie running back Derrius Guice has opened the door for third-year veteran Byron Marshall to compete for a spot on Washington's 53-man roster. Marshall caught a 25-yard touchdown pass in the club's preseason opener and should get an extended look against the Jets.

Fantasy Impact

Marshall got 15 touches for Washington last season before going on IR with a hamstring injury. Chris Thompson's role in the Washington backfield is secure, but with only Samaje Perine and Rob Kelley currently in front of him, it's not inconceivable that Marshall could earn some regular season playing time in 2018. He's a name to keep in find for the season's first waiver wire run.

Byron Marshall goes down early against Chargers

Byron Marshall pulled his hamstring early in the game while attempting to field a kickoff. He did not record a catch or carry for the game.

Fantasy Impact

Marshall's status is unknown for Week 15, but Perine could be in for a heavy workload if he can't go.

Byron Marshall sees some work against Cowboys

Byron Marshall gained 12 yards on four carries and added five receptions for 24 yards on Thursday against the Cowboys.

Fantasy Impact

Marshall saw some extra work when Samaje Perine missed time while being evaluated for a concussion. He should usually see about five touches per game and isn't much of a fantasy option.

Byron Marshall totals 30 yards in Redskins debut

As a fill in for Chris Thompson, Byron Marshall rushed 4 times for 18 yards and caught one pass for 12 yards.

Fantasy Impact

Samaje Perine has seemingly secured lead RB duties, but Marshall will spell him on 3rd downs. Marshall is only a name to monitor in season long leagues.
