Blaine Gabbert
QB -
Week 12 Outlook
Availability
Chiefs QB Blaine Gabbert will draw the start in Week 18 against the Chargers.
Fantasy Impact
With the Chiefs’ playoff seeding already determined, head coach Andy Reid is taking the opportunity to rest Patrick Mahomes. The team is expected to rest other key players as well.
According to Pat McAffe, the Kansas City Chiefs are signing QB Blaine Gabbert to a deal to play backup quarterback.
Fantasy Impact
Gabbert will take the place of veteran backup QB Chad Henne who retired following Kansas City's championship run in 2022. The Chiefs saw Henne take charge during pivotal moments when Mahomes was hurt, and Gabbert will fill that role. Gabbert, a former top-10 pick by the Jacksonville Jaguars, won a ring with Tampa Bay in the 2020 season playing behind Tom Brady.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have agreed to terms with QB Blaine Gabbert to bring him back next season.
Fantasy Impact
Gabbert was solid for Tampa last season, not seeing the field much but being a good leader and veteran presence. He will be back with the team for another season at least, but it's possible he will be the third-string behind both Tom Brady and Kyle Trask.
The Buccaneers have re-signed free agent quarterback Blaine Gabbert. It's a one-year, $2.5 million deal between the Super Bowl champions and their signal-caller.
Fantasy Impact
The Bucs' depth chart behind Tom Brady is quite interesting. Gabbert, who completed nine of 16 passes last season for 143 yards and two touchdowns, joins a room that also includes Ryan Griffin and Kyle Trask. The former has spent six years with the Buccaneers, attempting just four passes. The latter, meanwhile, was drafted by Tampa Bay in April. He was the sixth quarterback off the board and the first taken outside of Round 1.
Buccaneers QB Blaine Gabbert completed 9-of-15 passes for 143 yards and two touchdowns in Saturday's Week 16 victory over the Lions.
Fantasy Impact
Gabbert played the entire second half with Tom Brady benched for playing too well. Really, he was benched because the Bucs had a commanding lead and Tampa Bay wanted to get Brady out of harm's way. Gabbert could see time in Week 17 against the Falcons depending on the playoff picture following the conclusion of Week 16.
