Week 13 Outlook
Availability
Benny Snell Jr. carried the ball six times for 23 rushing yards in the Lions' 21-16 win over the Giants Friday night.
Fantasy Impact
Snell Jr. stepped right in after being signed by the Lions Thursday, leading the team with a 3.8 yard per carry average while tying for second in carries out of the backfield Friday night. The 25-year-old will look to make the most of his opportunities in the preseason in hopes of carving out a modest role in a crowded backfield mix behind co-starters David Montgomery and Jahmyr Gibbs, competing with Devine Ozigbo and Mohamed Ibrahim moving forward.
Benny Snell Jr. has agreed to a deal with the Detroit Lions.
Fantasy Impact
With the news of Justin Jackson retiring from the NFL, the Lions sign Snell to add some depth to their backfield. He played in all 17 games with the Steelers last season with 20 carries for 90 yards and 1 TD.
According to Field Yates of ESPN, free agent RB Benny Snell Jr. had a tryout with the Indianapolis Colts on Wednesday alongside RBs Kenyan Drake and Devine Ozigbo.
Fantasy Impact
Snell spent his first four seasons in Pittsburgh as a backup/rotational back. However, he fell out of favor in Years 3 and 4, seeing less than 10% of the team's snaps. The former fourth-rounder hasn't been super productive in his limited role, averaging 3.6 yards per carry over his career and catching just 17 total passes. Given their ongoing situation with Jonathan Taylor and the current injury to Zack Moss, the Colts could use another camp body. If signed, Snell could even see a rotational role in 2023. He also worked out with the Raiders a week ago.
The Las Vegas Raiders worked out free agent RB Benny Snell.
Fantasy Impact
Snell previously worked out with the Broncos in June. The Raiders also worked out Abram Smith as they look to add depth just in case with Josh Jacobs holding out.
The Broncos are reportedly trying out free agent RB Benny Snell Jr. for a tryout.
Fantasy Impact
Snell fell behind Jaylen Warren in the Steelers backfield last season. Denver appears to be looking to add depth to its backfield behind Javonte Williams (knee) and Samaje Perine.
