Week 17 Outlook
Availability
Saints WR Austin Carr caught 1-of-2 targets for nine yards in Sunday's Week 8 win over the Cardinals.
Fantasy Impact
While Carr manages to see playing time, he is not very involved in the passing attack with Michael Thomas and the starting running back seeing the bulk of the targets while the rest are spread around. The Saints will get their bye in Week 9.
Wide receiver Austin Carr is inactive for the team's Week 1 matchup against the Houston Texans on Monday Night Football.
Fantasy Impact
Carr started in Week 1 for the Saints last season, but he played sparingly all year and was never relevant in most fantasy formats. Unless New Orleans loses multiple playmakers to injuries this season, fantasy owners can expect more of the same from Carr.
Saints WR Austin Carr caught 1-of-2 targets for a 27-yard touchdown in Sunday night's preseason win over the Chargers.
Fantasy Impact
Outside of Michael Thomas and Tre'Quan Smith, the Saints' wide receiver depth chart is a question mark. Carr is one of the favorites to emerge on the opening day roster barring a setback in his play.
Saints WR Austin Carr caught his only target for a 12-yard touchdown in Thursday's Week 12 win over Atlanta.
Fantasy Impact
Carr has now caught two targets for 15 yards and two touchdowns in his past two games. You just can't make this stuff up. While he won't get volume, Carr is getting the red zone looks from Drew Brees, which makes him a threat to score every week.
NFL insider Ian Rapoport tweets that former undrafted wide receiver Austin Carr will start at slot wide receiver for the Saints in their matchup against the Buccaneers today. Carr has played in just one game in his career and has zero catches, but he impressed the coaching staff and Drew Brees enough in training camp and the preseason to earn the start.
Fantasy Impact
While Carr is a surprise starter and could be a fantasy sleeper, the Saints have a ton of weapons on offense, especially at wide receiver. Michael Thomas is the clear number one option, while Carr will also have to compete with Cameron Meredith, Ted Ginn, and Tre'Quan Smith for playing time and touches.
