Jordan Mason in line to start Week 2, potentially longer

by Jordan Epp | 49ers Correspondent | Fri, Sep 13th 5:08pm EDT

San Francisco 49ers RB Jordan Mason is in line to start again in Week 2 and possibly longer with RB Christian McCaffrey (calf/Achilles) being ruled out and now being considered an IR candidate, according to head coach Kyle Shanahan. (Tom Pelissero on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact:

McCaffrey has been working through Achilles tendinitis, and according to David Lombardi of The Athletic, Shanahan said that Thursday was the star RB's "worst day" for his injury. With the team's RB1 not seemingly healing after recording limited sessions in every practice so far, Mason (28-147-1) is set to have another start under his belt after a more than encouraging Week 1 outing. Mason could be in line to start from Week 2-5 (MIN-LAR-NE-ARI) with Week 6 potentially being McCaffrey's earliest return date.
