George Kittle (groin) not expected to play Week 2 vs. Seahawks

George Kittle’s groin injury is improving but he is still not expected to play Week 2 against the Seahawks according to Pro Football Network’s Aaron Wilson. (Aaron Wilson, Pro Football Network)

Fantasy Impact:

Kittle has “made a lot of progress” this week according to 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan but not enough that the team feels comfortable rolling the former All-Pro out there for the divisional matchup. Kittle did not play Week 1 on a wet track at Solder Field in Chicago and with more rain in the forecast for this Sunday’s game, it’s not surprising the team doesn’t want to risk it this week either. Veteran Kyle Kroft played the most snaps of any San Francisco tight ends in Week 1 but only caught 1-of-2 targets for nine yards. He should not be considered a replacement for Kittle’s production, especially with the likes of Deebo Samuel and Brandon Aiyuk more likely to fill the production void.
