According to a report from ESPN’s Nick Wagoner, San Francisco 49ers WR Brandon Aiyuk has been making big plays each day at practice and appears ready to make a big leap in his third NFL season. (ESPN)
Fantasy Impact:
Aiyuk appears to be starting training camp on a positive note which is an encouraging sign for the young WR after he earned his way into HC Kyle Shannahan’s dog house this time last year and lost early season playing time. Aiyuk, a 2020 first-round pick, has flashed immense potential at various points in his first two seasons, but he has yet to maintain an elite level of production throughout an entire season. With the 49ers transitioning to Trey Lance as their starting QB, Aiyuk may ultimately be the biggest beneficiary of all the team's pass catchers. Aiyuk spent the offseason working out with Lance, and it seems the chemistry they have built has carried over into training camp practices. Also, with Lance under center, the team should take more downfield shots than they did with Jimmy Garoppolo at the helm, and Aiyuk is the most likely receiver within the offense to get those high-value targets. Aiyuk is currently ranked as the WR38 in PPR formats according to FantasyPros’ ECR.
