Per Khimki Moscow GM Pavel Astakhov, guard Alexey Shved would consider a return to the NBA if he receives guarantees that he’ll be given a satisfactory role on the team.
Fantasy Impact
“I think that if he has any serious proposal from the NBA – and it’s not even about money but about his role on the team – then it won’t be easy to keep him,” Astakhov said. Shved has become a star in the Russian league since joining Khimki in 2015 after playing three seasons in the NBA with four different teams. In his NBA career, he averaged 7.4 points, 2.0 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game in 182 games played. Meanwhile, for Khimki, Shved has averaged 20.8 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 5.4 assists in five seasons. He’s set to become a free agent this summer, and Astakhov has made it clear he’d like the All-Star guard to return. However, he said, “due to the overall situation in EuroLeague, we are all on pause. If we finish the season, we will immediately proceed to further negotiations [with Shved].”
After fracturing his rib in a loss to the Toronto Raptors on Sunday, Shved is looking like he may miss the remainder of the season. The 26-year-old guard has been the lone bright spot for the Knicks since the All-Star break. In 26 games, he averaged 14.8 points, 4.6 boards and 3.6 assists per game. Phil Jackson will look to sign the upcoming free agent during the off-season.
Fantasy Impact
With Shved out for the season, look for coach Derrick Fisher to rely heavily on rookie guard Langston Galloway. Shane Larkin should also continue to log heavy minutes until Tim Hardaway Jr. returns from his wrist injury. Fantasy owners can drop Shved in favor of a healthier option during the fantasy post-season.
Shved will sit out his second straight contest when the Knicks take on the Clippers Wednesday.
Fantasy Impact
With Shved out, Langston Galloway and Shane Larkin will log heavy minutes.
Alexey Shved missed Monday's game against the Grizzlies with a rib injury. Although listed as questionable for Wednesday's game against the Clippers, he's also listed as the probable starter. Shved is averaging 10.3 points, but shooting just 39.7 percent from the floor this season.
Fantasy Impact
Shved has played much better of late, averaging 18.8 points, on 42.4 percent from the floor, over that last four games. Should Shved return, Shane Larkin and Langston Galloway could see significantly less playing time. Owners should check Shved's status prior to game time and adjust their lineups accordingly.
Shved went down with an injury on Sunday against the Raptors and was unable to return. It's unlikely that he'll be healthy enough to suit up when the Knicks host the Grizzlies on Monday.
Fantasy Impact
Shved has been New York's go-to guy and has been dominating his opponents. Shane Larkin started the second half on Sunday and should see extended minutes on Monday. Langston Galloway will also continue to play heavy minutes.
