Williams Perez pitches six solid and earns a quality start

Perez faced off against the Marlins and allowed seven hits and two runs over six innings Friday night. He issued one walk while striking out three in an affair the Braves went on to win in nine innings 4-2. He will face the Giants on Wednesday in Atlanta.

Fantasy Impact

With Julio Teheran, Matt Wisler, and Mike Foltynewicz showing improvement, Perez is following their lead and showing that he too can be relied upon as part of a resurgent pitching staff for the woeful Braves. He is worth watching in deep leagues.

Williams Perez pitches 6+ solid innings, Braves shutout Phillies for win

Perez showed everybody he was in control today, as he went 6 1/3 innings, allowing only two hits and no runs while walking one and striking out four in the rain-soaked affair. This is the Perez that fared well at the end of the 2015 season. He threw 90 pitches and 58 of those were for strikes. Perez is now 2-1 on the season with an ERA of 3.86 over 32 2/3 innings. His K/9 is low at 4.41 while his BB/9 stands at 3.03. The victory elevated the Braves season record to 12-30. New skipper Brian Snitker is 3-2 thus far in his tenure.

Fantasy Impact

While he holds little fantasy value now, with more consistency and improvement in his K/9, he will be someone to keep an eye on. He'll face the Marlins next Friday in Atlanta.
