The Diamondbacks have released outfielder Travis Snider.
Fantasy Impact
Snider hit well in Triple-A last year, batting .294/.402/.497 across 368 plate appearances. The former top prospect hasn't played in the big leagues since 2015, however. He will likely have to wait until 2021 to sign with another club.
The Pittsburgh Pirates looked to be down and out after Milwaukee took a 6-1 lead on Sunday afternoon. Francisco Liriano got taken out after only 2 1/3 innings. Josh Harrison was able to walk it off in the bottom of the 11th inning to keep the Pirates deficit to 2.5 games behind the Cardinals for 1st place in the NL Central.
Fantasy Impact
Travis Snider is finally back with the Pirates, and he is helping them in their quest for the National League Central crown. Snider will not have any fantasy value heading down the final stretch of the season because he is not starting consistently, as he is mainly a pinch hitter.
Baltimore Orioles outfielder Travis Snider was released on Saturday by the Orioles. Snider was designated for assignment on August 7, as the team called up outfielder Junior Lake.
Fantasy Impact
Snider was acquired by the Orioles from the Pirates for a pair of pitching prospects last winter. The goal was for him to fill in for the departed Nelson Cruz or Nick Markakis, but a combination of outfield depth and inconsistent play on his part has now gotten him released. Snider's stat line reads 69 games played, 50 hits, three home runs, 23 runs scored and a batting average of .273.
Travis Snider is 11-for-32 with seven runs scored in his last nine games.
Fantasy Impact
He is not getting enough of the counting stats to be a starter outside of deep leagues. Do keep an eye on him in medium leagues if his BA stays high and he can keep the recent run of runs scored going for awhile longer.
Snider hit his first homer of the spring against the Twins.
Fantasy Impact
One of the more notable signings by Baltimore this offseason, Snider has an excellent opportunity for significant playing time in 2015. This was only his second extra-base hit of the spring but with additional at-bats, he could work his way into the everyday lineup. Currently, his ECR is 310 and isn't recommended for 10- or 12-team leagues at the present time.
