Hughes has not been fantasy relevant since 2015. Even then he was mediocre, as 2014 was his only good season. He is now a shell of himself and is close to the end of his big league career.

The Twins have traded Phil Hughes to the Padres in exchange for minor league catcher Janigson Villalobos and the 74th overall pick in the upcoming MLB draft.

Hughes hasn't been particularly fantasy-relevant since 2014, and hasn't showed that he's capable of being an effective big league pitcher in several years. Still, a move to the Padres is always intriguing, so those in NL-only leagues can at least take note and monitor Hughes' status.

Hughes wasn't fantasy relevant, and that's certainly the case pitching out of the bullpen. He'll be a candidate for spot starts as needed through the season, and owners should likely target hitters against him as he does.

Hughes is far from the quality starter he used to be, and is not much more than a bullpen arm at this point. Even though he was dealing against one of the leagues best line ups, hoping for better days will get you burned here.

Hughes struggled mightily in Sunday's loss to the Royals. He's now allowed 14 earned runs over his last four starts spanning 13 2/3 innings. This has raised his ERA and WHIP on the season to 5.74 and 1.51. Only three of his nine starts have been quality.
