Justin Maxwell

San Francisco Giants OF Justin Maxwell was designated for assignment on Tuesday after five players were added to the expanded roster.

Fantasy Impact

Although this may have come as a surprise to some in the baseball world it is not a move fantasy owners will notice. Maxwell hit .209 with seven home runs and 26 RBIs while playing 100 games for the Giants, but spent most of his time on the waiver wire in fantasy leagues.

Justin Maxwell had a perfect night at the plate as he went 4-for-4 with one single, two doubles, one triple, and one walk. He knocked home two runs and scored three runs himself.

Fantasy Impact

Justin Maxwell has become the odd man out in the outfield, having to play behind Gregor Blanco (who has played well in Nori Aoki's absence) and the newly healthy Hunter Pence. Maxwell manages to draw a few starts a week and his only use is as a very deep value play when stacking Giants' bats.

Justin Maxwell had to be brought on in the bottom of the first inning after Nori Aoki suffered a lower leg bruise. Maxwell would finish the game at 1-for-4 with one two-run home run.

Fantasy Impact

Aoki has said the he will decide Sunday morning if he will play or not, and if does not play then Maxwell will most likely start in right field. Maxwell is only batting .225 but has collected three hits over his last two games so he could be used as a deep value play in daily games.

Justin Maxwell was finally able to break his five game hitless streak with a 2-for-4 effort against the Mariners. Both of his hits were singles, but he was unfortunately unable to drive in any runs or make it around the bases.

Fantasy Impact

With Hunter Pence (wrist) out at least another week, Justin Maxwell should be in line for more starts. He is a risky move for daily games considering his recent struggles, but he is a decent play for those in deeper leagues that are eagerly awaiting Hunter Pence's return.

Justin Maxwell started for the Giants Friday due to Nori Aoki and Hunter Pence being out of the lineup and went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run.

Fantasy Impact

Maxwell feasted on sub-par pitching with Jerome Williams on the mound. He should get the start again tomorrow with Pence not expected back until Monday. The Giants get youngster Severino Gonzalez tomorrow and if he starts, he may be a good cheap option in DFS.
