The Atlanta Braves have outrighted infielder Andrew Velazquez to Triple-A Gwinnett.
Fantasy Impact
The Braves acquired Velazquez from the Angels to serve as infield depth in 2023 but he never appeared in the big leagues with the Braves. He hit just .173 with two homers in 81 at-bats with the Angels before hitting just .217 with one stolen base across 14 games with Gwinnett.
Andrew Velazquez went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Saturday's 2-0 win over the Blue Jays.
Fantasy Impact
Out of absolutely nowhere, Velazquez has decided to find his power stroke. The defensive-minded infielder has now homered in back-to-back games and has three in the last week to bring his season total to eight now. He is finally above the Mendoza line at .201 on the season, and that should be a sign itself to not roster the 28-year-old in fantasy.
Andrew Velazquez went 2-for-5 with a two-run home run, a single and another run scored in Friday's 12-0 win over the Blue Jays.
Fantasy Impact
After not homering since June, Velazquez now has two long balls in the last week as he continues his hot streak in August. This month, the infielder is slashing .326/.354/.500 in 46 at-bats to bring his season-long batting average to an even .200. Although this stretch is encouraging, he should not be rostered for fantasy purposes.
Andrew Velazquez went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Saturday's 4-3 loss to the Tigers.
Fantasy Impact
His long ball on Saturday was Velazquez's first since June 28th, extending his season total to six. The infielder is a mainstay in the lineup due to his defensive ability, as he is hitting just .184 with an OPS of .504 in 267 at-bats on the season. He should not be rostered in any fantasy formats.
Andrew Velazquez went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Tuesday's 11-4 loss to the White Sox.
Fantasy Impact
Velazquez has now driven in a run in back-to-back games for the Halos, an encouraging sign from a guy that has really struggled all season. He is not a fantasy option at all, but him getting hot at the plate would be a great boost to the bottom of the Angels' lineup.
