Starling Marte (knee) still sidelined but eyed for Opening Day

by Bruno Mulé | Mets Correspondent | Fri, Mar 7th 12:17pm EST

Starling Marte (knee) hasn’t played in a Grapefruit League game yet, but the Mets aren’t sweating his Opening Day status, per team reports. (Tim Britton)

Fantasy Impact:

Marte, 36, says he’s played through pain his whole career—“I’ll keep doing it”—and though no spring debut’s set, he’s active in BP and fielding drills. After a 2024 bounce-back (94 regular games, six playoff), he’s slated for a short-side platoon at DH and outfield corners—Brandon Nimmo’s knee trouble might pad his early at-bats. Fantasy managers in deeper leagues can grab him; extra reps could juice his value.
