The Philadelphia Phillies have claimed pitcher Max Castillo off waivers from the Boston Red Sox. (Matt Gelb on Twitter)

Outfielder Simon Muzziotti was designated for assignment in a corresponding move. Castillo has made 21 career appearances (six starts) between the Royals and Blue Jays, working to a 5.43 ERA in that time. He was part of a 2022 trade that send Whit Merrifield from the Royals to the Blue Jays that season.
