Veteran infielder Jonathan Schoop has cleared waivers and has been granted his release by the Detroit Tigers. (Tigers PR on Twitter)
Fantasy Impact:
The Tigers designated Schoop for assignment when Riley Greene was activated prior to the All-Star break and has officially been cut loose. The writing was on the wall for the veteran who struggled mightily last season and failed to turn it around this season with a .213 average without a home run and just seven RBI across 151 trips to the plate. He could be a decent bench bat for a team needing help against left-handed pitching.
