CeeDee Lamb (foot) misses practice again

Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb (foot) missed practice for a second consecutive day on Thursday. However, head coach Mike McCarthy expects Lamb will return to the field next week. (Dallas Cowboys)

Fantasy Impact:

With Amari Cooper traded and Michael Gallup (ACL) still recovering, Lamb has a chance to assert himself as one of the top receivers early in the season. After producing 1,102 yards and six touchdowns last year, he ranks as the WR6 in the latest ECR for 2022.

Kadarius Toney will not play in second preseason game

Fantasy Impact:

This is the second preseason game in a row that Toney will not play in due to an unspecified knee injury. Dan Duggan of The Athletic noted that Toney was “moving well” in individual drills during the team’s Friday practice, so the preseason rest is likely just precautionary. Toney is in store for a big role in 2022, but the missed time is not helping him in terms of building chemistry with QB Daniel Jones and the rest of the offense.

Miles Sanders (hamstring) not serious and team is being cautious

Miles Sanders has missed multiple practices over a hamstring injury. Head coach Nick Sirianni stated that Sanders ‘had tightness and soreness but is getting better.’ Sirianni did not give a timetable to return. (Jeff McLane on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact:

Sanders hamstring is something of caution for the Eagles. Multiple beat writers are implying that Sanders should be back for the regular season. There is no surprise the Eagles are divulging little information, NFL Teams are not as open about their players’ injuries in the preseason. Keep your fantasy expectations in line until there is further information given about Sanders’ hamstring. The Eagles running back is ranked 27th on FantasyPro’s Expert Consensus Rankings with an average draft position of 71 overall. Kenneth Gainwell and Boston Scott’s workloads would increase if Sanders missed time.

Michael Gallup running routes for first time since ACL injury

Michael Gallup ran routes at practice on Thursday for the first time since suffering an ACL tear according to the Dallas Morning News’ Michael Gehlken. (Michael Gehlken on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact:

Michael Gallup said “it felt great” being back on the field and running routes again. He had not done so since January 2, 2022, when he suffered a Grade 3 ACL tear catching a touchdown in Week 17. Gallup’s recovery should make fantasy managers and Cowboys fans both happy but managers should be wary of taking him too early with his injury history. He previously missed seven games early last season as well after straining his left calf in Week 1. When Gallup is on the field, he is an excellent talent and source of fantasy scoring, but it has been hard of late for him to stay on the field. He is not even expected to be ready for the start of the regular season so discount him accordingly on draft day.
