2024 Outlook
Jim Harbaugh will accept the head coaching job with the Los Angeles Chargers, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Fantasy Impact
Harbaugh is coming off his first national championship with Michigan since joining his alma mater in 2015. Harbaugh recorded a 44-19-1 record with the San Francisco 49ers from 2011-2014 and was applauded for his ability to turn around a struggling franchise. Fantasy managers should view this as a positive sign for Justin Herbert and the Chargers’ skill players heading into 2024.
The Chargers D/ST allowed 16 points while picking up two sacks in a 16-9 loss to the Broncos in Week 17.
Fantasy Impact
The Chargers held the Broncos to just 313 yards of total offense in the loss but it wasn't enough as their offense struggled to move the ball. Los Angeles will finish up a disappointing season against the Chiefs in Week 18.
The Chargers' D/ST logged two fumble recoveries, one sack, and one interception while allowing 24 points in Saturday's loss to the Buffalo Bills.
Fantasy Impact
There wasn't much hope for Los Angeles' defense in Week 16 coming off of a week where they allowed 63 points as a team in Week 15, but they ended up having a solid outing against Josh Allen and Co. They secured three turnovers over the course of the night and held a strong Buffalo offense to 24 points. They don't project to be a strong fantasy option in Week 16 against the Broncos despite the solid outing on Saturday, however.
Following Thursday night's blowout loss against the Raiders, the Chargers have fired coach Brandon Staley and long-time GM Tom Telesco.
Fantasy Impact
It felt like it was only a matter of time until Staley was going to be let go. The Chargers cleaned out following Thursday's embarrassing performance where they were down 42-0 at halftime against a team that score zero points the previous week.
The Chargers' defense allowed 51 points, registered one sack, and forced zero turnovers during their 63-21 loss to the Raiders in Week 15.
Fantasy Impact
This unit seemed to have no answer for rookie Aidan O'Connell and the rest of his Raiders teammates. Feel free to leave the Chargers on waivers in all fantasy leagues.
