Thomas Greiss allows five goals in Thursday's loss to Predators

Thomas Greiss struggled in net for the Blues Thursday night, allowing five goals on 41 shots faced in a 6-2 loss to the Predators.

Fantasy Impact

Greiss has now allowed three or more goals in each of his two starts for the Blues as the backup to No. 1 netminder Jordan Binnington. The 36-year-old veteran continues to stick around as a competent backup in the league, but fantasy owners should not even consider rostering the goaltender unless Binnington suffers an injury. Greiss carries a 4.10 GAA and .904 save percentage in two starts (0-2-0) between the pipes so far this season.

Fantasy Impact

Greiss las losses in four of his last five starts in net for Detroit, allowing 13 goals in that span. The veteran netminder has a disappointing 3.58 goals against average and .892 save percentage in 29 games in net this season (9-14-1).

Thomas Greiss wins in Winnipeg

Thomas Greiss stopped 32 of 33 shots against to help the Red Wings beat the Jets 3-1 and win back to back games for the first time since beating the Flyers in their first two games after the all-star break.

Fantasy Impact

Greiss improves to 9-12-1 with a 3.76 goals against average and .890 save percentage. This was a great game from the veteran netminder who is having one of his worst seasons in the GAA and SV% categories. He's not worth a spot on your fantasy team.

Thomas Greiss shelled and yanked early

Thomas Greiss was unable to last more than five minutes in Detroit's 7-5 loss to the Edmonton Oilers on Tuesday night. He saved three of six shots for a .500 save percentage.

Fantasy Impact

The good news is if you started him, the shots against is low so it's possible to salvage save percentage throughout the week. Devin Shore, Connor McDavid and Zach Hyman blasted him early and netted goals within two minutes and 36 seconds of each other. The showing was enough for him to get the hook and hand over the crease to Alex Nedeljkovic. Neither Detroit goalie is worth starting as the downside to damaging goalie stat's looms high right now. Even in good matchups, buyer beware.
