Athanasiou has struggled mightily of late to crack the score sheet for the Blackhawks, picking up points in just three of his last 16 games (three goals) for the club. The 28-year-old has struggled after signing with the rebuilding club in the offseason, recording just 11 points (eight goals, three assists) in 34 games so far this season.

Athanasiou made a nice recovery in the neutral zone and corralled the puck with his skate to get it to his stick. He got around the defense to find himself in the slot all alone and tucked the puck in the seven-hole. It's his first goal of the season.

Andreas Athanasiou had an assist and finished the game with a plus-one rating during the Kings' 2-1 win versus Minnesota. He failed to record a shot on net in 13:27 minutes of ice time during the game.

Fantasy Impact

Athanasiou signed a one-year $1.2 million contract this offseason with Los Angeles in an attempt to prove himself after not being offered a contract in Edmonton. In seven games this season with the Kings he has three goals and two assists. He does need to get a bit more aggressive in the offensive zone, especially since he only has seven total shots fired on the net in his seven games played.

Athanasiou spent 12 minutes on the ice versus Nashville, with no points.
