Report: Blackhawks add Czech D Michael Kempny

by Jake Perper | Tue, May 24th 8:35am EDT

The Blackhawks struggled mightily on the back end with depth lacking there this past season. On Monday, they reached a one-year, entry-level deal with D Michael Kempny from the Czech Republic (ESPN)

Fantasy Impact:

Kempny played in the KHL last season for Omsk Avangard, scoring five goals and adding 16 assists in 59 regular season games. He also had four points (two goals, two assists) in 11 playoff games. The 6'0", 194-pounder turns 26 in September and earned high praise from Blackhawks GM Stan Bowman who said this: "He’s got that mixture of offense and defense. I would call him a really well-rounded guy. He can defend well in his own end. Mobility, he’s a good skater." (Via The Athletic).
