Bryan Bickell placed on waivers by Blackhawks

Earlier Friday, the Chicago Blackhawks placed 29-year-old forward Bryan Bickell on waivers. After a nine-goal postseason in 2013, the Hawks rewarded him with a four-year with an average annual salary of $4 million. (Chicago Tribune)
Fantasy Impact:
Bickell scored 14 goals and added 14 assists last season. In the playoffs, he notched no goals and added five assists as he battled a case of vertigo. If he clears waivers, he would be assigned to Chicago's AHL affiliate Rockford. That move would save the Hawks $950,000 in cap space. They are already eating $8 million over the next two years by waiving him. After no willing trade partners, the Blackhawks were forced to find a way out of their own bad contract they handed out to Bickell.
