Jesperi Kotkaniemi added his 25th assist and scored his 17th goal in Tuesday's 4-1 win over the Red Wings.

Kotkaniemi is heating up, with two goals and three assists in his last five games. Since the calendar flipped to January, he has actually been a solid producer. However, with just 42 points on the year, the juice simply was not worth the squeeze over the course of a full season. He does not need to be rostered to close out the season.
