Kansas City makes their first offensive selection in the 2021 draft, taking the physical wide receiver Cornell Powell out of Clemson. Powell's ability to bring in contested catches and provide a huge catch radius is something that the Chiefs needed at the wideout position, as their more slender receivers like Demarcus Robinson, Byron Pringle, and Mecole Hardman operate better between the hash marks. Powell hauled in 53 receptions for 882 yards and seven touchdowns, showcasing his receiving skills when finally given the opportunity at Clemson in 2020.
