Ahmad Brooks, who was reportedly gaining some interest on the trading block, was released by the 49ers Friday. He was the longest tenured 49er and ranks third in franchise history in sacks with 51 1/2.
Fantasy Impact
It appears the 49ers are opting for youth in the front seven and maybe looking to save money by cutting Brooks. Brooks' production is going to be hard to replace, as he has led or tied for the team lead in sacks every season since 2013. Eli Harold figures to start in his place, and may have some value in IDP leagues that favor sacks if he can match the production Brooks had.
