At Virginia Tech, Lane was fed a constant diet of screens, schemed touches, and opportunities in motion. He was gifted volume with free releases. Lane will operate in a similar role in the NFL while running his routes from the slot. When operating as a slot receiver, it was primarily slants, deep overs, and out routes. He has the short-area quickness and nose for the holes in zone defense to be an effective NFL slot option. Lane offers some YAC upside with a running-back mentality in the open field. He has more upside as a YAC option if he can invoke more of the quick twitch he utilizes in his routes into his RAC game. Lane isn't an elite tackle breaker, but he can run through poor wraps and slip poor angled attempts.
