Joe Mixon Week 2 Outlook - Bears at Texans

By Mick Ciallela (Fantrax), Wed, Sep 11th 2024, 5:44pm EDT

Joe Mixon started his tenure with the Houston Texans in a big way in Week 1. He tied a career-high with 30 carries, which he turned into 159 yards and a touchdown in Houston's victory in Indianapolis. He added three catches en route to earning AFC Player of the Week honors. 33 touches will not be the norm, but the Texans want to feed their new running back. Mixon has an interesting Week 2 matchup against the Chicago Bears. Chicago's defense was stingy versus the run last year, allowing just 3.72 yards per carry to opposing running backs. But they were far and away the most susceptible to backs catching passes out of the backfield. Last week, it appeared the opposite was true. Tennessee's tandem of Tony Pollard and Tyjae Spears totaled 103 yards and a touchdown on 20 carries. However, they combined for just 23 receiving yards on eight targets. Either way, Joe Mixon should get enough volume to make him a solid mid-range RB1 in this matchup.
