Zachary Orr retires from the NFL

Baltimore Ravens linebacker Zachary Orr has announced his retirement from the NFL.

Fantasy Impact

Orr, 24, is retiring from the NFL after only three seasons in the league. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports Orr is "retiring because of a serious [neck] injury." Although the Ravens made a valiant attempt to talk the linebacker out of retiring, it came to no avail. He'll walk away with 162 combined tackles, one sack, one forced fumble, two recoveries and three interceptions in 46 games played.

Zachary Orr leads with 10 tackles in Sunday's win

Baltimore Ravens linebacker Zachary Orr leads the defense with 10 total tackles in Sunday's 21 - 14 win against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Fantasy Impact

Orr is a big playmaker on the defense with numerous tackles during his three-year career, setting career highs last season with 22 total tackles. He has a season 73 total tackles (52 solo) with one interception, one forced fumble and two passes defensed.

Zachar Orr front-runner for staring ILB job

Bo Smolka of CSN Mid-Atlantic believes that Baltimore Ravens inside linebacker Zachary Orr is the early front-runner for the starting job next to C.J. Mosley.

Fantasy Impact

Smolka does caution that rookie Kamalei Correa also saw extensive snaps there during spring practices, but Orr proved (on limited snaps) last year that he is capable of excelling next to Mosley. The ILB spot has proven to be productive in Baltimore, as Daryl Smith routinely posted 100+ tackles during his stint as the starter. If Orr wins the job, he could make for a sneaky good value as a weekly LB2.

Zachary Orr vying for starting ILB position

Baltimore Ravens inside linebacker Zachary Orr has his eyes set on a starting job in 2016, according to the team's website.

Fantasy Impact

“That’s something I strive for – to be a starter in this league,” Orr said. “It’s good that it’s finally here, to have an opportunity, and I have to take advantage of it.” Orr has to soundly beat out Arthur Brown and rookie Kamalei Correa for the gig, but has a leg up on both after showing well as a role player last year. Should he win the job, he would make for an interesting LB2 sleeper candidate in IDP leagues.

Zach Orr showing what he can do

Baltimore Ravens inside linebacker Zach Orr continues to show off his skills to the Ravens and can be considered a "diamond in the rough", according to an article by Garrett Downing of Baltimoreravens.com. He played at North Texas in 2013 where he was named 2013 Conference USA Football All-Academic team and USA All-Conference First Team at linebacker, finishing his college career with 365 tackles (Meangreensports.com).

Fantasy Impact

Orr was the top special-teamer last season with seven team tackles. He took reps with the starters in mini-camp this year. He is definitely ready to sack a quarterback. He might not get much time on the field as long as Darryl Smith and C.J. Mosley stay healthy.
