Week 12 Outlook
Availability
Whitney Mercilus has retired from the NFL, after a 10-year career, according to Ari Meirov.
Fantasy Impact
The 10-year pro spent most of his career in Houston as an edge rusher, but also played four games in Green Bay last year. He tallied 58 sacks and 13 forced fumbles in his career while joining forces with J.J. Watt and Jadeveon Clowney rushing the passer.
Whitney Mercilus posted three solo tackles, one assisted tackle, one QB hit, and one TFL, as Houston beat Indianapolis, 20-17.
Fantasy Impact
While the loss of JJ Watt was bound to hurt the Texans, the most apparent effect has been on Mercilus, who has been unable to get to the quarterback without his teammate. Since Watt's Week 8 injury, Mercilus has not recorded a sack and just got his first TFL tonight. He'll have to find a way to apply pressure when the Texans take on Tom Brady and the Patriots next weekend.
Whitney Mercilus posted just two solo tackles in a 41-7 blowout loss to the Ravens.
Fantasy Impact
The whole Texans got eviscerated by MVP-candidate Lamar Jackson, and Mercilus had one of his worst games of the season. In his last two weeks combined, he's totaled just five tackles. He'll try to pick up the slack on TNF in a battle for the AFC South against the Colts.
Whitney Mercilus had an unimpressive game across the pond, logging just three solo tackles and QB hit.
Fantasy Impact
After opening the season with three straight double-digit performances in standard scoring, Mercilus hasn't been able to crack that barrier since week three. He'll look to break his spell in two weeks against the Ravens.
Whitney Mercilus logged four solo tackles, two assisted tackles, and two TFLs, as the Texans defeated the Raiders, 27-24.
Fantasy Impact
After a hot start to the season in which he registered a sack in four straight games, Mercilus has cooled off quite a bit. However, with JJ Watt's season-ending injury, Mercilus will have to start to heat up again to cover for his absence.
