Week 17 Outlook

NFL Insider Josina Anderson reports the Ravens aren't expected to pursue free agent RB Todd Gurley II "at this time."
Fantasy Impact
Losing J.K. Dobbins (ACL) obviously led to speculation that Gurley could sign in Baltimore, but the team is reportedly content with their RB depth right now. UDFA Ty'Son Williams has apparently taken over as the Ravens' No. 2 RB behind Gus Edwards.
Former Los Angeles Rams RB Todd Gurley does not appear to be a relevant factor in the team's search for a running back on the free-agent market, per beat writer Jourdan Rodrigue of The Athletic.
Fantasy Impact
Gurley is far removed from his RB1 finish during the 2018 season for the Rams, where he averaged 4.9 YPC on 260 carries and amassed an incredible 21 touchdowns that included 81 targets. He rapidly declined over the next two seasons but still managed to finish as the RB14 in half-PPR formats during his last season with the Rams in 2019, where arthritis in his knee flared up and held him out of a pivotal postseason run. The 26-year old landed in Atlanta last season and managed to rack up nine touchdowns despite averaging only 3.5 YPC on 195 carries and only saw 34 targets on one of the most pass-heavy teams in the league. This disappointing decline in Gurley's production, combined with the bitter public feud over the Rams opting to cut Gurley, which continues to pay him $8.4 million in dead money, will likely stop any attempt at signing him back. Expect the team to wait a month towards the end of pre-season to scout potential running backs who were cut, instead of forcing a reunion with Gurley.
Former Rams and Falcons RB Todd Gurley II is now visiting the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday.
Fantasy Impact
Gurley visited with the Detroit Lions just two weeks ago but nothing has since materialized on that front. With Mark Ingram now in Houston, maybe the Ravens are interested in replacing his veteran leadership with another proven vet in Gurley. If he ultimately signs, he’d likely get a few carries here and there, but ultimately shouldn’t eat too much into the workloads of both J.K. Dobbins and Gus Edwards, who both seem to already have established roles in the offense.
ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that free agent RB Todd Gurley is in Detroit to visit with the Lions on Thursday.
Fantasy Impact
Schefter notes that if Gurley signs with the Lions he'll be reunited with Jared Goff. He would also be teaming up with a fellow Georgia RB standout, D'Andre Swift. Fantasy players likely aren't pleased to hear that another running back could be joining this group, as there were already concerns over how much Jamaal Williams would eat into Swift's workload. We'll see if Gurley actually signs, though.
Todd Gurley II, who played through 2020 in Atlanta on a one-year deal, is not expected to be brought back in for the 2021 season according to Tori McElhaney with The Athletic.
Fantasy Impact
Although this isn't official news, it is expected as Gurley's production and usage dwindled throughout the 2020 season. After tweaking his knee about midway through the season, Gurley saw just six carries for 15.7 yards per game over the Falcons' final six games. There's a chance that another team takes a shot on Gurley heading into next season. Realistically though, the days of being a featured back appear to be in the rearview mirror for the 26-year-old former 10th overall pick. Currently RB41 according to our Expert Consensus Rankings, Gurley probably won't offer much as a fantasy asset heading into his seventh season.
