The Pittsburgh Steelers have released quarterback Tajh Boyd, according to Burt Lauten, the team's Communications Coordinator. His spot on the roster was taken by wide receiver Jarrod West.
Fantasy Impact
The once highly-touted Boyd was buried on the depth chart and was unlikely to make the team's 53-man roster. He isn't guaranteed another shot with other teams.
Jets quarterback Tajh Boyd is expected to play in New York's second preseason game against the Cincinnati Bengals on Saturday. Boyd will have the chance to make a case for making the 53-man roster over Matt Simms after largely disappointing at training camp. Both Simms and Boys are competing for the third quarterback spot on the depth chart.
Fantasy Impact
Tajh Boyd is an interesting prospect. His first couple of years as a pro will probably be quiet. But if he develops and finds his way into the right situation, he could become a productive quarterback. He may be worth drafting in dynasty leagues and keeping him stashed for the next couple of years to see if he amounts to anything. As a sixth-round pick, Boyd should come cheap as well.
