The 49ers have released veteran DE Taco Charleton as they begin the roster-trimming process, per MySportsUpdate on Twitter.
Fantasy Impact
A former first-round DE, Charlton has bounced around since his time in Dallas, playing in a limited fashion for Miami, Kansas City, Pittsburgh, and Chicago. He has been fighting for a roster spot on a crowded 49ers roster, but the team has released him ahead of Tuesday's 53-man deadline.
The 49ers have signed Taco Charlton to a one-year contract.
Fantasy Impact
The 28-year-old appeared in five games last season with the Bears, tallying three total tackles. The former first-round pick has yet to put it all together but Charlton will provide depth on the defensive line during training camp for the 49ers.
Taco Charlton has signed with the New Orleans Saints, according to Ari Meirov.
Fantasy Impact
The free-agent pass rusher spent last season in Pittsburgh as a depth pass rusher and figures to fill the same role in New Orleans. While the former first-rounder hasn't lived up to his draft pedigree, he has proven himself as a capable rotational pass rusher and looks to contribute to Dennis Allen's defensive unit.
DE Taco Charlton and the Chiefs have agreed to a one-year deal.
Fantasy Impact
Charlton was added by the Chiefs after he cleared waivers. He was recently released by Miami on Thursday. Charlton racked up five sacks across 10 games for the Dolphins in 2019. The 25-year-old is not a guarantee to make the Chiefs roster and will try to earn a spot when training camp opens.
After recently being waived by the Dolphins, DE Taco Charlton has cleared waivers and is now officially a free agent.
Fantasy Impact
A former first-round pick of the Dallas Cowboys just three years ago, Charlton now finds himself a free agent after going unclaimed on waivers. He’s had an underwhelming three-year career in the NFL, recording just 67 tackles and nine sacks in 37 games. He’ll look to get a fresh start with a new team this upcoming season.
