Stephen Anderson
TE - FA
This Week Outlook
Availability
Stephen Anderson is being waived by the Texans on Friday, Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Fantasy Impact
It was thought that Anderson would get a bigger role going into the season after finishing last year with 25 catches and 342 yards. But Anderson was outplayed by Ryan Griffith and rookies Jordan Akins and Jordan Thomas in the preseason. Anderson may catch onto another team but won't be fantasy relevant.
Stephen Anderson is the odd man out when ESPN's Sarah Barshop came out with her projection of the Texan's 53 man roster.
Fantasy Impact
It looks like Ryan Griffith will win the starting tight end role and the Texans love the upside of rookies of Jordan Akins and Jordan Thomas. If Anderson does get cut he should get picked up by a team needing depth. But either way, he does not have any fantasy value.
Texans TE Stephen Anderson wasn't targeted in Saturday's preseason game against the Raiders.
Fantasy Impact
Anderson is in a battle with draft picks Jordan Akins and Jordan Thomas along with veteran Ryan Griffin on the Texans depth chart. Anderson can catch the ball but is not much of a blocker which limits his upside at TE and is not worth drafting in fantasy leagues.
Stephen Anderson caught one of two targets for four yards on Sunday against the Colts.
Fantasy Impact
Anderson was largely non-existent down the stretch after a brief run of fantasy-relevancy. With C.J. Fiedorowicz back healthy next year, Anderson won't be under consideration in fantasy leagues.
Stephen Anderson failed to catch any of his three targets against the Jaguars.
Fantasy Impact
It was a tough matchup, for sure, but Anderson also did almost nothing last weekend against the 49ers, too. Ignore him in Week 16 against the Steelers, even in leagues that award bonus points to tight ends.
