Star Lotulelei returning to Bills in 2021

Veteran defensive tackle Star Lotulelei is expected to return to the Buffalo Bills in 2021. He opted out of last season due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Fantasy Impact

Prior to 2020, the fomer first-round pick had missed just two games in his career. He opened his career with five seasons in Carolina before joining Buffalo in 2018. He has posted 177 career tackles and 13.5 sacks. His return should drastically aid the cohesiveness of a Bills run defense that struggled during his absence.

Star Lotulelei taking voluntary opt-out for 2020 season

Bills DT Star Lotulelei has decided to take the voluntary opt-out option for the 2020 NFL season. The veteran was due $4.5M guaranteed this year, which will push back until 2021.

Fantasy Impact

The run-stuffing interior DT for the Bills won’t be joining the team this season in what would have been his third-year with the team. As one of the better run stuffers in the NFL, this opt out stings a bit for what is a very formidable Buffalo defense.

Star Lotulelei expected to sign five-year deal with Bills

Defensive tackle Star Lotulelei is expected to sign a five-year deal with the Buffalo Bills when the league year begins on Wednesday, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Fantasy Impact

Lotulelei played for Bills head coach Sean McDermott when the latter was the defensive coordinator with the Carolina Panthers. The Bills traded Marcell Dareus last season and Kyle Williams is currently a free agent, so this signing fills an obvious need.

Star Lotulelei remains out for Week 13

Panthers' DT Star Lotulelei has been ruled inactive for Week 13.

Fantasy Impact

Lotulelei was supposed to return this week, but his ankle sprain will keep him out for another week. Filling in for him be Colin Cole and Dwan Edwards mostly, while Kawann Short will rotate in and out also.
