Spencer Rattler
QB - New Orleans Saints
Availability
Spencer Rattler is expected to be New Orleans' starting quarterback in Week 8.
Fantasy Impact
Dennis Allen told reporters that the rookie is expected to be the starter for Sunday's game against the Chargers. Derek Carr (oblique) still needs more time to recover, which is bad news for Chris Olave (concussion), Alvin Kamara, and the entirety of New Orleans' offense.
Saints coach Dennis Allen said Spencer Rattler will start Week 8’s game against the Chargers if Derek Carr (oblique) remains sidelined.
Fantasy Impact
Carr is expected to have a throwing session on Tuesday at which points the Saints will re-evaluate where he is at. Rattler would be off the fantasy radar against a tough Chargers defense.
Spencer Rattler completed 25-of-35 passing attempts for 172 yards and lost two fumbles in Thursday night's 33-10 loss to the Denver Broncos.
Fantasy Impact
Rattler once again got the start in the absence of Derek Carr (oblique) on Thursday, and it ended up being a rough game for him. He failed to score a touchdown and lost to fumbles over the course of the night, one of which was returned for a touchdown. New Orleans' skill-position players have very little chance at fantasy success while he's at the helm.
Spencer Rattler completed 22-of-40 passing attempts for 243 yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions while rushing for 27 yards in Sunday's 51-27 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Fantasy Impact
The rookie saw his first ever start on Sunday with Derek Carr (oblique) sidelined, and he ended up having an up-and-down game. He looked like he had some real juice early on, but Tampa Bay's defense ended up figuring him out a bit and was able to pick him off on two separate occasions. Still, he led New Orleans' offense to 27 points on the day, so it's possible that he will be able to sustain some fantasy value on this offense for however long he remains the starter.
Spencer Rattler will be New Orleans' starting quarterback in Week 6 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Fantasy Impact
Derek Carr recently went down with an oblique injury and is set to be sidelined for multiple weeks, and the team has decided that Rattler will be their starter for the foreseeable future. He was a fifth-round draft pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, and even if he plays relatively well, this is still not good news for the fantasy value of players like Alvin Kamara, Chris Olave, and Rashid Shaheed moving forward.
