The Pittsburgh Steelers have released K Shaun Suisham (ACL) on Friday with a failed physical designation following a setback during his recovery from a torn ACL.
Fantasy Impact
Shaun Suisham was released by the Steelers on Friday after five seasons with the club. Suisham suffered a torn ACL prior to the start of the 2015 regular season and missed the entire campaign as a result of the ailment. Suisham is a productive NFL kicker who can catch on with another organization at some point in 2016 if he makes a full recovery.
Pittsburgh Steelers K Shaun Suisham has been diagnosed with a torn ACL which will sideline him for the season.
Fantasy Impact
While this is certain to impact the Steelers this season, it's nothing more than an annoyance for those fantasy owners that have already drafted. For those that haven't, now you have one less player to take with your final pick.
Shaun Suisham bangs 57 yard field goal with room to spare.
Fantasy Impact
It is good to see the 32 year old 10 year vet from Bowling Green still has some "oomph" in his leg. However, kicking in near perfect weather conditions at training camp in August is totally different from kicking towards the open end of Heinz Field in December. Remember, Suisham will play 8 games at Heinz Field where 50 yard FGs are very hard to complete. As an example, a 48 yard FG was the longest Suisham kicked in 2013. With an Experts Consensus Ranking (ECR) of 24, there are much better options to consider for K than Suisham.
Shaun Suisham has signed a four year agreement with the Steelers, which locks him up until 2018. The general manager Kevin Colbert has made signing veterans a priority and Shaun was the first to do so. A field goal conversion rate of 93.8-percent (30/32) has set the franchise single-season record, while Suisham's 87.5% career mark is also a franchise record with the Steelers.
Fantasy Impact
The Steelers are very pleased with his kicking ability will continue to be a middle tier Kicker. His accuracy is great in an often challenging Heinz field. Improvements in the Steelers offense should help move him into the top 12.
