Ehlinger saw the second-most passing attempts out of anyone for the Colts, but he didn't do much with it. He averaged just 3.7 yards per completion and failed to find the end zone at all. Joe Flacco is the presumptive QB2 for the Colts, so it seems more likely than not that Ehlinger will end up on the practice squad or be cut entirely.

Sam Ehlinger is expected to start in Week 18 for the Colts against the Texans.

Colts interim coach Jeff Saturday made the announcement and said that Nick Foles is "really sore" after injuring his ribs on Sunday against the Giants. Ehlinger threw for 60 yards and a touchdown taking over for Foles this past week. The Colts have one game remaining in this very disappointing season.

Sam Ehlinger completed nine of 14 pass attempts for 60 passing yards and one touchdown while also rushing once for 12 rushing yards in the Colts' 38-10 Week 17 loss to the Giants.

Ehlinger was unable to find much room to operate after taking over for starting quarterback Nick Foles behind center, averaging just 6.7 yards per completion on the day. Ehlinger may be in line to start the team's Week 18 season finale if Foles (ribs) is unable to be cleared ahead of the team's home matchup against the Houston Texans to close out the season.

Sam Ehlinger is expected to be the backup to Nick Foles for Monday's game against the Chargers.

Matt Ryan was not only benched, but he was demoted to the third-string quarterback behind both Foles and Ehlinger. The Colts offense will be very tough to trust outside of Michael Pittman Jr.
