Week 17 Outlook
Availability
Taylor is a former seventh-round draft pick from North Carolina drafted by Green Bay in 2001. He spent three seasons with them before moving on to Baltimore and finally to Cleveland where he was released in December. He has eight career receptions for 45 yards and a touchdown in 58 games (two starts in Green Bay).
Fantasy Impact
This is move for pre-camp depth with a player who has history with Philbin. The Dolphins are likely to re-sign Charles Clay, and Dion Sims is a capable backup, who also plays in packages along with Clay. Taylor joins the next guy on the chart, Arthur Lynch, last year’s fifth round pick who spent the season on the injured reserve list.
Tight end Ryan Taylor has been released by the Green Bay Packers today. Taylor played mainly on special teams for the Packers.
Fantasy Impact
Ryan Taylor wasn't owned in your fantasy league. However, if there is any fantasy relevance to this roster move, it may be that the Packers believe in their starting tight ends Andrew Quarless and Richard Rodgers, who have become more involved in the Packers offense since it started clicking in Week 4. Additionally, this move may signal a vote of confidence in the health and improvement of TE Brandon Bostick.
