The New York Jets have notified offensive lineman Ryan Clady's agent that they aren't picking up his option for 2017. He is a free agent.
Fantasy Impact
Thet Jets are parting ways with Clady after one season. Clady, 30, only played in nine games in 2016. He was placed on IR in Week 10 with a torn rotator cuff. Clady could be courted by the Giants this offseason as they are in need of a quality left tackle. However, his injury concerns may deter them from pursuing a contract.
New York Jets OL Ryan Clady (ACL) returned to team drills for the first time since tearing his ACL back in the 2015 offseason as a member of the Denver Broncos.
Fantasy Impact
The New York Jets had a tremendous hole to fill on their offensive line when D'Brickashaw Ferguson announced his retirement from the NFL. The Jets traded for Ryan Clady, as he is an experienced veteran at the position like Ferguson was. The question marks that surround Clady has to do with his durability more than talent. After appearing in all 16 games of the season in the first five years of his career, Clady missed all but two in 2013 and then the entire 2015 season due to his recent ACL tear. If Clady can give the Jets a full slate of games, their front five should improve from a mediocre 2015 performance.
New York Jets GM Mike Maccagnan told NJ.com that newly acquired offensive tackle Ryan Clady(knee) is "good to go" following a severe ACL injury suffered during last year's training camp.
Fantasy Impact
Ryan Clady is set to replace long-time Jets tackle D'Brickashaw Ferguson following his sudden retirement earlier in the offseason. Clady, who has missed 30 games over the past three seasons has a tough task at hand replacing Ferguson's durability and consistent play in 2016.
The New York Jets agreed to trade a 5th round pick in the 2016 NFL Draft to the Denver Broncos for OL Ryan Clady and a 7th round pick in this year's draft. Clady signed a one-year, $7.5 million deal with a $6 million base and $3 million in guaranteed money. He also has a one-year option worth up to $13 million for 2017.
Fantasy Impact
The Jets didn't waste any time filling in the void that the recently retired D'Brickashaw Ferguson left by acquiring Ryan Clady from the Denver Broncos. The move will free up much-needed cap space, and the additional 5th round pick will put Denver right back in the fold to make another play for Colin Kaepernick.
The Baltimore Ravens had a season to forget in 2015 and are poised to change their fortune for this upcoming season. Among the transactions made so far in the offseason, the offensive tackle position has yet to be addressed. According to Jeff Zrebiec of the Baltimore Sun, the Ravens are hesitant to trade for a tackle, but will monitor the situations of Ryan Clady of the Broncos and D'Brickashaw Ferguson of the Jets. Both players are candidates to become veteran cap casualties on their respective teams.
Fantasy Impact
The Baltimore Ravens are in dire need at the offensive line position, especially following the departure of Kelechi Osemele earlier in the offseason. One of the keys to a better offense is keeping their skill position players healthy and upright, which starts with the front five. If either Ryan Clady or D'Brickashaw Ferguson becomes available, the Ravens are likely to sign them right away. However, the Giants are also in the market for a tackle which could make life difficult for Ravens' brass if a bidding war comes to motion for either one of these players whose skill sets are on the decline.
